The Beginning of Online Marketing
Many marketers started out selling one of their own products, such as a how to e-books or a piece of software they developed. But many simply gave away information for nothing. There was not the keenness, however, for people to actually shop online unlike today.
The great shop online breakthrough
That activity made the Internet a great source of information and gradually e-books were able to be sold for higher prices and information on how to do something, particularly related to trading online, became a big seller. This encouraged people to try Internet marketing of their own products. Slowly as goods came online that were outside of the norm the trend changed to products such as food, wine, clothes, software, services and so on. This allowed merchants to change their methods and cater to a new market. Now a goods percentage have their own web sites while others allow affiliates to trade for them.
Trade in goods upgraded to new dimensions
New technology was developed to allow trade in goods that normally requires fitting, such as fashion clothes and accessories, to also be sold online. Now even prescription glasses can be tried on in cyberspace to ensure a good fit or face match. You simply upload your image and the frames move onto your face to give the impression that you are looking in a mirror.
Price saving and regular bargains
Aside from all these advantages the other great thing about shopping online is the price saving on goods purchased. Because merchants don’t have as many, if any, overheads they willingly pass on the savings to their customers. It reduces the cost of items well below normal retail and the specials they offer from time to time make shopping online not only pleasurable but it matches the experience of shopping in a mall without the hassles, cost or frustration.
